I own a Studio Display and I’m on the verge of getting a new MacBook to use with it.

I can go for either the base 14” Pro or a specced-up M2 Air (I value the portability of the latter more) primarily for Lightroom CC and lots of Office/productivity apps. Does anyone have any experience of running the Air with this display, and if so is performance impacted in any noticeable way? Does it become much hotter?

Thanks!

I'd also be keen to hear from people using their M2 with high resolution 4k/5k+ displays and how it handles them?

I used my M1 MacBook Air with a 4K display every day for almost 2 years without any issues at all. I'm not working from home now so I have less experience with the M2 MacBook Air on my 4K display but I wouldn't expect it to be any different than with the M1.

I am using a studio display and MBA M2 no issues at all actually really good match up. I do realize the studio display is overkill but I do light photo and videos editing.

It works well with the Apple Studio Display. I don’t notice any significant difference in performance or heat.

Are you going to use a multi-display setup? If so, the MBA is out of the running. Other than that, any M2 based Mac can easily handle an external display.
