Has anyone been able to compare the height of the leading edge of the keyboard deck on the M2 Air with the previous generation with the wedge design?

I wonder because I like the wedge as it doesn’t cut into my wrists like my old MacBook Pro (2018) did.

With the slimming of the new M2 Air chassis I wonder if the leading edge heights are close or the same between it and the M1 Air.

Look at the Apple website for the dimensions

They are asking die real world observation and the answer is no. It’s basically totally flat. Frankly it’s like an iPad weight wise. Super light.

People have compared, but I haven't seen anyone measure with a ruler yet. I second OP's question. With the display open, what is the distance measured from the surface of the palm rests to the surface of the desk? That keyboard deck height looks pretty close between the M1 and M2 MBAs, but it’s tough to gauge from photos and videos. The taller height on past MBPs to that edge on the laptop body has dug into my wrists before too, and thinner profiles tend to work better for my wrists. Curious how the M2 height compares to the M1 MBA.

Check the appleinsider comparison video with the M1. You can get a view of the keyboard deck height

1:25~ish mark.

Was at the Apple store earlier today, wasn’t very noticeable difference to me.

If you closed the lid on the M1 MBA you’d get a good approximation of the M2 keyboard height.

Wondering the same so I took a picture at Apple store today, i'd say the height of the front edge on the M2 Air sits right in between M1 Air and 13" MBP. IMO the industrial design is different but really not better than the old Air. M2 Air only becomes thinner in the keyboard area, where you don't actually get to feel it. In terms of overall volume, M1 Air may even be smaller.

Appreciate the feedback!

Now I just need to try one in person to see if that small difference matters to my wrists.

Karen, appreciate your photos! Good comparisons, but which laptops are in them? I first assumed you were comparing M2 MBA on the left with M1 MBA on the right. Is that right? Then, I started wondering if the first one was the 13” MBP instead!

Nykwil, thanks for your photo, too, but I think comparing them with the lids *open* would give us a better idea of the keyboard height! After all, that’s how we use them when we type! What am I missing?
