Hello folks!

So, as the title states, I am at an odd impasse.

I have an iPad Pro 2018. It is starting struggle with holding a decent charge.

I have a MacBook Air to trade in.

There is a local Best Buy that will take the trade for essentially the same price as an open box M2 iPad Pro 694 (Less $15 difference for the MacBook Air trade in)

I have an Apple Pencil 2 and the Magic Keyboard. So, no real money being lost or spent on additional accessories.

Or

Put the trade in towards an (open box) M4, but then I would like to buy the Apple Pencil Pro and new Magic Keyboard.

The total cost would be close to $600 total for the M4 iPad Pro, pencil pro, and new Magic Keyboard.

So, is the new iPad Pro worth the difference?

I couldn’t decide.

I know money is always something to consider, but I use the iPad every day and keep them around for a while.

I am sure I can get multiple years out of the new M2, but the M4 seems more future proof and the screen is wonderful.

But I would like the accessories as well.

Really wondering. If it was just iPad to iPad with out the accessories, I world likely go for the M4. The cost difference is $155

But buying the pencil and keyboard have seemed to slow me down.

If you use the iPad often and are going to make it last, you might as well upgrade to the latest and greatest. Are you going for the 11” or the 12.9”? I’d say the 12.9” may not be worth $600 from M2 to M4, since the M2 has the mini-LED display which is already pretty good (on the other hand, the 12.9” / 13” size got the more dramatic thickness / weight change). If you are going for the 11”, the move from IPS to OLED is pretty significant, so that might make the price increase more justified.

Also depends on the condition of the specific unit you get. I just got a open box (excellent condition) 13” from Best Buy, and it’s basically brand new, save for a few smudges on the back that were easily wiped away.

11 inch!

I do like the idea of the latest and greatest…

I am sure the M2 will get me 4 years easy.

The M4 will likely get 6 plus years.

Will the original accessories last ?

Who knows! 😝

The new version is going to have the better accessories and a nicer screen. As well as a very snappy processor and more ram.

for the 11” I’d definitely go for the M4. You’ll really enjoy the screen compared the 2018 version. I have the 11” as well and I love it! The new Magic Keyboard is also really nice, I like it a lot more than the previous one.

Free is good.

It is a lot. I don’t use either so not a consideration for me.

I have the M4 11 and must say I’m enjoying it muuuch more than I expected, the OLED is a fantastic display. I’m going between 80% and 20% charge twice a day every single day since the 15th.
