Their reviews are awful too. I opted for the one off Etsy for now, although switched my order to starlight so not as worried about a skin now. If I were to spend up I'd get one from Ultraskins, they are in the UK and not cheap but the company is supportive and the quality of the film looks high.

Ultraskins will have the new MBA cut this week and up on the website this week or next. Here is an example.

I ordered on etsy too. Last week. We shall receive it next month.

Just got shipment confirmation with usps tracking from slickwraps for a matte naked skin order I put in last Friday.

They seem pretty responsive on their CS with me lately. Usually a reply with a day or 2.

Not shilling for em or ignoring their past ceo actions, just offering my recent transaction POV

Just got my matte naked slickwrap but wont be able to install until mid august when I eventually get my MBA, nice to have it ready for day 1 at least.

Does bring trackpad/trackpad area?
It has a trackpad cover yes.

I was wondering if these dry install skins could be installed wet to avoid bubbles, but now I realize this skin uses 3m comply adhesive which basically allows you to move the wrap around, align it and push out any bubbles easily without a liquid solution. The adhesive also allows for all air bubbles to disappear over time. Pretty neat

heres a vid on how the adhesive works:

Yeah the issue with dry apply skins is getting the alignment right... F that. I went with the slickwraps gloss (which I already have, no computer yet though) which uses the wet install method so you can get it aligned perfectly.

yeah i really like wet application for the allignment part, luckily M2 MBA is mostly straight lines and no curves.

If you later decide to remove the skin, does it leave any marks or sticky residue?

I stand corrected it's using 3M Controltac adhesive which works similar as above but you can slide it around for alignment easily

I've used dBrand on several of my laptops in the past & have found them to be excellent. They don't make clear skins and here's why:

We don't offer any clear skins at the moment, nor will we at any time in the future. There are two types of clear skins on the market, neither of which meet our standards:

  1. Wet-apply: These types of clear skins are similar to the ones which are used to wrap the front bumper on cars. In order to apply these "wet-apply" clear materials, you first have to spray your device and the material with a special liquid. Once it's wet, you can begin the difficult task of trying to line up a slippery skin. Spoiler alert: it's extremely difficult, as the liquid on the skin and the device prevents the skin from staying in place once you've got it lined up. If you somehow do end up getting it correctly aligned, you have to squeegee out the remaining liquid, hope you don't scratch the skin with your squeegee, then wait 24-48 hours for the remaining liquid to dry and the material to properly adhere to your device. If by some miracle you made it this far without water-damaging your device - and yes... we know some devices are IP67 and IP68 resistant, but accidents happen - you'll probably end up finding a fingerprint stuck on the adhesive side of your skin, meaning it can't be removed without tearing the skin off and buying a new one. The overall experience is catastrophically bad.
  2. Dry-apply: These materials simply collect fingerprints on the adhesive side of the skin. They're impossible to apply, as it's physically impossible to apply a skin without touching the adhesive side.
As a result, we have no plans to add clear skins to our lineup.

Well, my slickwraps went right in the garbage. Put it on, it's too big and hangs over the edges. I'm not happy.
I thought about grabbing them even if it was like $70...thanks for letting me know. Maybe I'll just deal with the fingerprints on my midnight

Update. I emailed them and told them both sides of the skin were too long and hung over the edges. I did not stretch them at all. I was told I probably received a 14” MBP set by accident. They are resending a new set.

Thermal problems?

Thought that the MBA cases were designed to help dissipate internal heat. Wouldn't a skin block that or worsen the dissipation?

Also, what about screen cracking? Couldn't certain skins increase its likelihood, however slightly?

Same. I emailed them and they asked me if I stretched it lol. They're going to make an install video next week so I'm waiting to see how theirs comes out before they send me a replacement. I'm hoping they realize it needs to be cut back a little bit. I normally like their stuff but this one was a miss, especially at that price.

The Slickwraps gloss, as others have mentioned is ever so slightly too large. What I did was...I waited a day till it was dry, then I took a new razor blade and carefully trimmed the excess off. Now it's perfect.

I'm thinking they are having them remade in the right size... why would we need to 'wait' til end of this week for a replacement? Anyway, I just want a skin that fits properly.

NEVER ORDER FROM SLICKWRAPS. Worst customer service ever. Been waiting on my replacement for my MBP14 (that I had to pay for) for MONTHS.

I ordered this one from Etsy. Arrived a few days ago. Initially I thought it looked terrible (dry install) gave it a couple days and it looks perfect, if you order one... be patient. Other than the matte finish, you cannot tell it is there. Highly recommend. Perfect fit, I ordered the top and bottom. Tried to take pics, unfortunately they don't show it at all.
