M2 MacBook Air In Store Stock Configs

I think most Apple Stores keep the standard models (8c/8g / 8gb Ram / 256gb SSD) and (8c/10g / 8gb Ram / 512gb SSD) and I noticed they do usually carry a higher end model (8c/10g / 16gb Ram / 1 TB) which is the one I was able to get in store. My Apple Stores on Long Island, NY seem to be out of everything ATM.

For what its worth, that app has been around a good while and several here have used it over the years without anything untoward. As long as Apple recognizes it with the security cert, you should be fine.
The M1 MacBook Air was like that too. For some reason the silver model only came in the lowest base model while the space gray and gold came in both 8/256 and 16/1TB. This time all the other three (midnight, starlight, space gray) come in both 8/256 and 16/1TB but not silver.
What does Apple have against silver?
I managed to snag a midnight 10 Core 1TB/16GB RAM yesterday in NYC - based on others here on the forums, that seems to be one of (if not the only) build-to-order config they keep in stock besides the base models. I checked on and off all morning with no luck, then around 11am one popped up at the 5th Ave store. It was a combo of persistence and luck, I suppose.
Maybe order one and then keep checking stock at stores. If one becomes available, cancel the order. That way at least you'll know you'll get one eventually.
I have seen 8GB/512 and 16GB/1TB coming in stock at random moments during day time and then sell out quick.
You are not kidding. Just check app. All 3 colors except midnight available for pick up right now at 3 Miami apple stores. Basic config only. I'm returning a basic midnight blue. Ordered a 8/512/67w space gray on Sunday. Says 1-2 weeks. Oh how I wish that config was available right now. I live 10 mins away from my local apple store BTW.

Yes, even more likely.
If you check inventory outside of CA, lots of areas have no inventory at all..
YMMV with that inventory check app, but I have my local store checked as my 'preferred store' (I believe you can only view 1 store's stock at once?) and started seeing results and getting notifications for another store.. 🤷♀️ who knows what its actually checking.

Austin Northside just got some base model configs in stock. Looks like silver and space gray only though.
