I really like the bezel, and there are many times that extra protection saved the screen.Good computer - but bezels from hell.
That's a MacBook 2,1, not an iBook. Just sayin..I remember there was a black iBook

On related note, Apple is also researching matte black for Macbooks (Air)

I thought the same when I saw the recent imacs but a friend has one and I sort of like it now tbh. The white bezels blend into the background. Might be annoying if watching movies, but I woulnt use a small screen like the air for that anyway. Im not a massive fan of white keyboards - they just look really dirty after a while. If they went with colours Id rather see deep colours than pastels, but regardless I would end up with silver or gray anyway most likely. All I want to see is a bigger screen.I don't mind the colors so much, as long as Aluminum and Space Grey are present. If they have those two, add as many colors as you want. It's the White that kills it for me. Again, I get it with the iMac as it has a history of pushing the design and color envelope. To me the MBA has a very traditional look, and to plaster White all over it is very disheartening.
If the rumors are true, I'll be sticking with my M1 MBA for quite some time (probably should anyway) as I want no part of White bezels and keys.
That Silver bezel was a nice medium gray. Like the Apple Cinema Displays and 17“ MacBook Pro with hires anti-glare display from a decade ago, that neutral, diffuse aluminum gray creates a very soft transition from the room to the display. Much less abrupt and imposing than the big shiny Black bezels that came from the glass displays and less shocking than the white bezels that make a competing hi-key frame around the display today and blast direct reflections in your face. No idea why people like seeing white bezels. Makes no sense to me.![]()
Indeed, as recent as 2017, the very traditional looking MBA had a white bezel.
Me too, I just wish they would launch it already, I have the iMac 24” in silver and love it… I am hoping that I can match up the Air with it… I think it’s going to be a long wait though… probably October or November… however some leakers have suggested a mid 2022 launch so fingers crossed we see it launched at WWDC or maybe a second surprise spring event… (this years spring event seemed very early, usually they don’t have their spring events until late March early April).I’m actually really looking forward to the new MBAs.
My partner has one of the new iMacs and the white bezels don’t bother me a bit. Combined with the colors I consider it a pretty fresh look, to be honest.
I think it’ll look cool in the MBA.
Been using a 27" iMac with white borders for months now. In real life usage, the bezel disappears into a medium (or darker) gray because your eyes are adjusted for the display itself, which is actively backlit and is always going to be brighter than the bezel. The product photos you see are pretty misleading in this regard.Where things fall totally flat for me is the use of white for the bezeling around the screen and white keys, I HATE THE LOOK.
The BlackBook!!! The stuff of my 7th grade dreams.I remember there was a black iBook
