Can anyone direct me to a leather/fake leather sleeve that is specifically designed for the M2 air? Most of the ones i am seeing are listed as “works with m2” but between the reviews and the ones that I have purchased they just dont fit correctly and are too tight and/or dont fit properly.

Ideally looking for something with a vertical opening and under $100.

Thanks

Go for the von holzhausen 13” portfolio or sleeve on Apple’s website they are a vegan leather, and fit perfectly.

They open horizontally however, but you would honestly think they were genuine leather they are that well made.

I got the same one. I purchased it direct from the dealer as they could deliver in a few days and Apple's delivery was a few weeks out.

I did not buy it because it's a vegetarian model but I couldn't find anything better. Mine fits a little snug but it works fine. I have a laptop bag with shoulder strap that the sleeve fits into perfectly. I figure it's double protected. However I don't know if I will ever use either to take it anywhere, but I wanted to be prepared.

I have a drawer in my entertainment center that is for my MBA only and I set it on the sleeve in the drawer when storing. I've had the midnight Air since July and it is still in perfect condition. After dropping $2,100 I want to keep it nice. ;)

Yeah same I have a messenger bag that the sleeve fits into perfectly as it isn’t too bulky.

The quality is really good to be fair and I always put it in the sleeve when storing my MBA in the cupboard or in a drawer etc…

One thing I did notice though is when I removed my MBA the first few times there was some sort of dust left behind on the ‘leather’ I’m not sure if this dust was from the inside of the sleeve itself or whether it was just some dust from inside the machine from the factory possibly.

OK, you're taking an extra step from me as I just set mine on the sleeve when storing. It's only my wife and I so I know my drawer is safe, but you're smart to make sure it's safe.

I was wondering about the inner lining so I guess that's where you're getting the dust from perhaps. I've only had it in the sleeve twice but I did need to pull it out using my expensive Apple polishing cloth. I try not to be super anal about the finish and I only wipe it down once a week or so, but I want it nice.

I was looking at this exact same one. How is the fit on it if you don’t mind me asking? How easy/hard is it to get the MacBook in and out? Thanks.

Once it's in, it fit well and I don't have to force to get it in/out. Since it's leather, it loosens with time so it's easier to slide. But it keeps the MacBook protected :)

Yeah it’s either from the lining (which I believe is made from recycled water bottles) or it’s coming from the rear vent of the MBA, maybe some factory dust on the internals possibly… whatever it is it was only a slight dusting so nothing major and nothing that is likely to scratch the device. So hopefully all is good long term

Yes, I think I read about the recycled bottles. That's good, like you I think it's fine. I would buy it again.

Quick question about your MBA if you don't mind. How is the paint around the ports holding up on the midnight? Are there any scuffs or wear and tear. I am also considering this color and like keeping my tech nice. Thanks.

Sure. The finish is still perfect everywhere, no scuffs or any markings. I am careful when using all three ports. I love the color and wipe it with the Apple cloth about once a week. I am happy with my choice as I was tired of all the space grey devices I've had.

Thanks. I wanted to hear specifically from someone like you who’s careful with their device. And I’m in the same boat kinda tired of the space grey.

Do not go for faux leather. To put such a high quality feat of engineering, design, and science which is the MacBook Air into a faux cheapo leather sleeve is insulting, to say the least.

You're most welcome. I'm not completely anal but close I guess. Ha. And silver would have been my second choice but I saw Midnight and had to have it. I would rather need to be a little more careful and love the color than have to get my second choice.

That's funny. You should tell Apple about cheap and show them all your shiny keys due to them using cheap plastic.
