Apple is moving on from making "workstations", full stop.

I don't understand why people are complaining, it was easy to see this has been coming for 10 years now. After using macs for much of my professional work since 1996, then Apple dropping Nvidia support was the last nail in the coffin for me.

Time to get your head out of the sand and see what the reality is, Apple sees profit in machines the consume media, not ones that make media.

I am selling my 2010 Mac and never looking back..FU Apple. I will use a Mac Mini M1 so I can access my data that is on Mac-formatted drives...for now.

BTW: iOS sucks too.

There is a reason Apple still sells the 2018/2020 Intel Mac mini 'Pro' model. The M1 is first generation and not for everyone. Yes it's light-years ahead of Intel but some people still need more Ram or other things like Boot Camp, eGPU and more that the M1 doesn't offer. I personally believe the M2 Mac mini will be when they stop selling the Intel version, it could be later this year but I think it won't be til 2022.

I would expect the Intel Mini to remain in production until a "second-generation" m-series CPU version of the Mini comes along that will support more RAM, etc.

Even then, I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one Intel-based Mac remain available for a while for those who NEED an Intel CPU inside. The Mini would be the prime candidate for this.
