If Apple keeps the same battery capacity as the current 16” MBP, then the M2X 16” MBP will probably have 30+ hours of battery life if you extrapolate the difference in battery size between the 13” and 16“ MBP. That is not bad at all.

Seems likely Apple would shrink the battery some to save on cost and/or weight, but the battery life should indeed be impressive.

And yet the battery life between the Intel 13" and 16" is not that big due to a larger screen and more powerful chip. It won't be rated at 30+ hours, maybe 20+.

That depends, if it’s a redesign then maybe. But if they’re planning on using the same battery (which may still be possible even with a redesign) then they already have a well established production process. Changing that tooling at the factory would likely offset any cost.

Knowing Apple, with past design changes, I would say if a new Mx 16" comes out, it will be housed in the same exact casing as the current 16" Intel MBP.

Apple tends to keep the packaging the same as the previous design and just change the internals to fit it.

I for one would love to dump my awful, hot, crappy battery 16" MBP.

Nobody nows if and when a Mx 16” Macbook pro will come out.
There is no information regardigen the efficiency of a not released Apple Processor. May be more cores and more memory are not as easy to implement as many of us think. All this is speculation and if Apple was able to predict it they would probably had informed the marketing department. So I think a new processor with up to 12 cores, up to 64gb ram, thunderbolt 4, pci-e-4 ssd, multi monitor support, will be not that far away from Intel as many claim.

The 16” will have higher baseline power draw, especially if the miniLED rumors are correct, so no. I could see around 20 hours though.

Well there is the leaked schematics from the ransomware hack. It shows a different design for upcoming MacBook Pros. If I had to make a guess, it will have 24-hour battery life.
