So the rumours suggest this may surface as early as October. But the larger 30-32” iMac isn’t scheduled until later in 2024.

While it won't be dubbed an iMac Pro, could we see the upcoming 24” M3 iMac be limited to a model in space grey with black bezels?

Or do we think it’ll be available to all the existing rainbow colours?

Why do you think Apple would do this?

I don't necessarily.

But it's a way to tie them over until the 30" iMac is ready.
So perhaps the current lineup in October is bumped to M2 with a special M3 model.

It is more likely that the current 24" models are just all spec bumped to M3. Why would the current lineup only be bumped to M2 if the M3 will be going in Mac mini, MacBook Air, etc. Hell even iPad Pros will likely get M3 by Spring 2024.

Personally I think Apple is going to tone down on the colors. So I wouldn't be surprised to see fewer bright colors (and pastels) and see either a Space Gray or Midnight with a return to black bezels - as both those colors would look horrible with the light bezels.

Yeah, I'm sure Apple has numbers on which color iMac sells the best.
Heck I think even a M1 iMac in space grey would bump sales.

This was from an earlier MacRumors survey of intended buyers when the iMac was launched.

Only 14 percent of respondents intended to buy the 24-inch ‌iMac‌ with the M1 chip. Among 24-inch ‌iMac‌ buyers, Blue is the most popular color option, with 33.4 percent, Silver the second most popular with 30.1 percent, and then Green with 13.4 percent. The least popular color options are Yellow with 6.8 percent, Pink with 4.1 percent, and Orange with 3.3 percent. This suggests that the majority of ‌iMac‌ customers are not interested in most of the new color options.

The iMac is the consumer computer - it tracks with the iPhone, which continues to come in bright colors. I see no indication why the M3 Imac won't come in more or less the exact same colors as the M1. Once the 24" iMac is redesigned - which hasn't been rumored at all - maybe you get different colors
