What's this mac rumor about an M3 launch for 14" and 16" this year ?
I just ordered a 13" M2 Air.

Even if it IS "this year", probably won't be before December.

More likely mid-January 2024.

At this point I don't expect M3 Pro/Max before WWDC next year, which is a real bummer. If any computer does come out late this year it will have a regular M3 in it, which they won't use in a 14" or 16" MBP.

After WWDC 2024 I am thinking Mac Pro, Mac Studio & rumored larger iMac.

Yeah I don't think they'll have an Ultra ready by June; that'll probably be a late '24 or early '25 release. It took them a year from the M2 release to release the M2 Ultra.

I highly doubt the M3 Pro will be out so soon after they have just launched M2 Pro in Jan 2023.

I am 99.99999999% certain that an M3 Pro/M3 Max suitable for a 14"/16" MacBook Pro will not be released this year.

A base M3 in a 24" iMac? I'd put those odds at 50%, though we are running out of time before the holiday rush.

The only thing really working in favor of an M3-based iMac is the fact that the current iMac is still using M1, so it's due for an upgrade. With that being said, I think TSMC would have to get 3nm yields above 70% to even begin to produce enough 3nm wafers to supply both A17 and M3 SoCs in enough supply. Samsung is also having yield issues with their 3nm process...

I was hoping for M3 in October, M3 Pro/Max in spring but I’m now thinking M3 in Feb/March, M3 Pro/Max in June. Hope I’m wrong cause I’m ready to pull the trigger on an M3 Max 16 inch!

M3 and M3 Pro/Max might launch next week. But not expecting to see a new MacBook Air with M3 next week.

So I can't return the 13" MBA M2 (customized, 24G RAM + 2TB SSD) with a 13" MBP M3 (customized for more RAM) ?

In India, there are no returns. All sales are final unless it is a defective item.

If you bought directly from apple in the US you have 14 days to return an item from the day you receive it. If you received it prior to Oct. 12 you're out of luck.

The latest rumor (accoridng to Gurman) is that they will be released oct 31.

I would be very happy if that were the case, and if Apple made the chassis slimmer as a result of the M3 chip.

BUT I am skeptical this is possible. The M2Pro MBPs were released, when? Last March? Apple usually waits at least a year before major refreshes. Anything is possible but it seems unlikely, despite the fact that the M2Pro was a very minor update.

EDIT (Oct 31): Clearly I was dead wrong!
