I regrettably purchased an Air a few months ago after my Pro M1 died. Dumbest Apple purchase decision I have ever made. Horrible thing. Hate it. Should have spent the extra dollars and got the Pro.

Same!
Every single year I think about upgrading, but there never seems to be much reason to.
My battery life is starting to get noticeably shorter though... I'm actually thinking of getting the 12th gen base model. Or at least, I was when I thought that it was coming out this week. I dont know if I should just get an M4 Air or keep waiting to see what the 12th gen offers. an a18 chip and 8GB of RAM would be quite an upgrade for us Air 4 users. An M4 and 12GB seems like insane overkill.

The software has hit a limit, it cant utilize the hardware. Instead of getting the M4 , i thought of getting the 2 year old m2 which should be heavily discounted but I looked up online and they are the same price as the new m4, ~$450 or they seem to be out of stock.

what do you hate about it? it has m3 which is faster than m1 pro

I was looking to get the latest just because the battery in my current A14 (gen 4 air) is getting really bad. Obviously a big upgrade with Ram and Chip but was shocked to see pretty much the exact same display. You think it's worth it, or should I have a third party upgrade the battery or look at a Pro for a proper upgrade... its not really used for much more than streaming and game for my daughter.
