Currently have a 1st gen base model rMB and love it, but it is underpowered.

Looking to upgrade and would like to know the differences between M3 and M5.
Thanks

When I was at the Apple store yesterday getting my macbook fixed, the "genius" told me the difference
was pretty nonexistent and mostly marketing. I bought the m5, and apparently could have saved some money...

I notice the m7 is listed under TECH SPECS on Apple's website for the MacBook, but for the life me I can see any built to order option for it, just the m3 and m5.

On most benchmarks, the biggest jump is between the m3 and m5. There is little difference between the m5 and m7. I'd go with the m5. That said, I expect that the new models will come out in April. Kaby Lake provides some good clock speed increases on the "m5" and "m7" chips (now called Core i5/i7).

You select the m3 or m5 model, and then in the customizations you can select the m7.
