Hello,

The battery life on my M4 iPad Pro 11 has been really good for me (came from M2), however, overnight battery drain has become an issue, several times I have woken up to a dead iPad (was at 25% before going to bed) and last night it went from 40% to 11% overnight with literally everything turned off (all apps closed, brightness done and all controls off). The iPad is connected to the MKB, but I see no obvious drain during the day whilst using it.

What could be causing the issue? Apple told me that my battery and system seems normal.

Thanks in advance.

check your battery settings to see what is running in the background and if it's one particular thing turn off background app refresh for the app. If you want to turn it ff system wide then you can do that as well.

Thank you, never really had to look at it before, I have found this…

Besides turning off FindMy on your iPad (which is not recommended), try force reboot.

Dropped 40% overnight with everything turned off, there is no app activity on the battery settings. Cannot seem to hard restart my iPad. I guess it could be iOS? But this iOS 18 is the current version..

Try a clean install.

The culprit is the MKB. Even with the screen off and apps closed, it is still going to draw power in standby mode. Easy test is leave the iPad off the MKB overnight and see if you still have a big battery drain.

what's MKB? I'm having the same issue.. had it already on my 2018 ipp, and still seeing it on the new one, though less bad. The magic Keyboard? Seriously?

as a data point -

13 inch cell variant m4. 2tb. attached to mkb all the time. i charge it to 80%. last time i charged it was monday as it was a firmware update ( i run dev beta since launch). have not used it since monday. just now pulled it out of my backpack 6 days later and its at 57%.
