The M4 iPP is good to go for the next 5 years at least. 8GB RAM in Ios/ ipad OS devices is perfectly adequate because it is an efficient mobile OS.
I was contemplating Samsung Tab S9 Ultra vs iPad Pro 13 inches LTE though Samsung Tab was bit cheaper and with the keyboard the difference was almost $500-$600, I liked Samsung Tab form factor, plus many features that is absent in iPad, still went with iPad Pro 13 LTE 1 TB Normal glass with Magic Keyboard, this has 16 GB RAM hence this can be used for many many more years to come. Totally including US Government taxes it came (iPad+Magic Keyboard), it was more than $2200.

the screen having issues for some , and ios not getting better leaves a full supply chain channel.

It's been great for me, got one around release. Although the screen scratched more easily than I thought cause I stupidly didn't get a screen protector right away (and my microfiber cloth scratched the screen somehow...) but luckily it mostly disappeared after application. Probably the best screen I've seen on anything and it's really great for notes and textbooks. I do agree the OS could be better though, I wish it had more Mac OS features considering the keyboard. Still can't even play Minecraft with just the trackpad, the M4 probably is going to waste. But still don't regret it cause I use it every day. I do think for most people the Air is better though probably. Should last me however long it's supported in software though. I think the nano texture is probably kind of a waste with the screen since it seems to scratch even worse than the normal one and it obscures the colors of the really great tandem OLED, but I guess useful for some people. Really I guess if you don't need the super good screen there's not too much reason to pick it over another model but it is a pretty big plus I think. Hopefully it is eventually in all the models.

Hey Apple, contact me when you remove CrippleOS. This is an M4, one of the most efficient and powerful consumer chips in the world and you burden it with a Fisher Price OS that doesn't even have real access to the file system or allow me to run HomeBrew which is basically an essential App Manager for me.

That's fine in a way, it means I'll keep more of my hard earnt cash and have more to spend on actual Brew.

These are one of the worst Apple product if it comes to price, especially the ones with more storage, price gauging at best.
MacBooks are much better deal, still on the higher side price wise but not too bad.

Took advantage of this yesterday and worked out well for me. with the discount there was also a $430 trade in for my previous M2. That is almost $600 right there. With AppleCare included with membership that is also another $100 plus. I had some Amazon gift card credits and a bank refund check that covered a Smart Folio and will be trading in my iPad Mini that I barely use anymore to cover the Magic Keyboard cost.

The screen alone on the 11” M4 is worth an upgrade of a few hundred dollars to me. I find the contrast alone making reading easier. Let’s not forget a bump in base memory. It’s a win!

You don’t put a screen protector on the Nano-texture glass. That defeats the purpose of the screen. As to scratches, make sure your cloth is clean each time before use. I haven’t had to clean my screen as I use a stylus and an Apple Pencil. If I see any light dust, I use a very soft feather duster to remove. The screen isn’t going to scratch any easier than a Apple Watch aluminum series model. My screen is still like new.

Oh sweet, glad I saw this! $849 is cheaper than buying from Apple with my 10% discount. Was going to waiting until these hit the refurbished store, but we saw how long that took with the 6th generation iPad Pros.

Gonna pull the trigger on replacing my 2020 iPad Pro 11". It's been an awesome device but the writing is on the wall with Apple slowly excluding new iPad OS features from it. Figure it might only get one or two more OS updates before they cutoff to the M-series chips only and right now it's still worth $300 for trade-in at Best Buy.

Considering 80% of its use is consumption (mostly in-flight movies), pretty stoked for the OLED display. I had previously considered getting the 12.9" just for mini-LED but found it too unwieldy in day to day use.

Not super happy about having to buy a new Apple Pencil, as I pretty much only use that for taking notes. Find My ability is nice though (which really should have been there from the start). I suppose they only redesign the thing every 6 years or so; hopefully the 3rd generation is supported just as long.

With this all of my Apple devices will have been released within the past 2 years. Been a long time since that happened considering I avoided most of the touch-bar era MacBook Pros.

I have the regular glass, I guess I wasn't clear. I shake off my microfiber cloth before using it of course, it was just an unlucky accident but probably inevitable as I use it for work as well. I recommend a screen protector for the normal one, part of the issue is the oleophobic coating on the glass screen is pretty bad so I was having to clean it a lot when using it under any real lighting. The $10 protector I put on attracts way fewer fingerprints and hid most of the scratch I had made.

But from what I have seen the nano texture one is super soft and obscures the screen colors just by itself, which is why I avoided it personally.

Swung by Apple Store on my way to pick this up. Played with the 13" Pro a good bit to make sure I didn't want to jump up to the larger size. Nope, still just as unwieldy as the previous generation due to the size (though the weight reduction was very noticeable). The 11" is much better for use as a consumption device, whereas the 13" definitely works better as a laptop replacement.

Comparing the display on my 2020 11" vs the M4, the OLED screen is a step up but it's not quite as dramatic as I thought it would be after reading the reviews. In-store it was pretty hard to tell but in normal use at home you can see a difference, especially in the dark. Though I still think the OLED on my iPhone 15 Pro looks better.

All-in-all it's probably going to cost me about $500 to upgrade after discounts, selling old items, and purchasing new pencil/case. I'm not really sure it was completely worth it but maybe I'll get more than 2 years out of this one before Apple starts locking out new features.

Random thoughts: I wish they'd put a ProMotion screen in the Mini. Apple Pencil Hover is more useful than I would have considered. If you're on the fence about upgrading, I'd wait for it to hit the refurbish store.

How many gigs on your 2020 Ipad Pro? BB offered $140 for 64gigs.

with respect, i was quoted this same line about the 9.7" ipp ram which also began to slow down within 2 years. and iphone 15 buyers are already locked out of half of ios18's features because of ram limitations within a year of launch. by contrast i always upgrade the ram above base in my laptops and i never feel this extreme level of slowdown as the computers age.

it seems like forum jockeys here will tell you an OS is efficient when a product launches with base ram that seems stingy, and then tell you that all the complex new features demand more resources when even basic typing and scrolling is lagging within a couple years.

i might have opted for the 16gb version if they didn't force bundle it to an expensive ssd upgrade that i don't need.
