M4 Macs Now Arriving to Customers in Australia and New Zealand

It's already Friday, November 8 in Australia and New Zealand, so customers who pre-ordered a new iMac, Mac mini, or MacBook Pro are beginning to receive their orders.

Apple introduced the new M4 Macs last week, with staggered announcements on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The iMac is equipped with the M4 chip that we first saw in the iPad Pro, while the Mac mini uses the M4 and the M4 Pro, a new higher-end chip.

The MacBook Pro can be purchased with the M4, M4 Pro, or M4 Max chip in the 14-inch size, or with an M4 Pro or M4 Max chip in the 16-inch size. Apple has bumped up the minimum RAM to 16GB, but starting prices have not changed. For the M4 Pro and M4 Max models, Apple added Thunderbolt 5, which allows for faster transfer speeds.

The Mac mini has a new, slimmed down size that takes up less space on a desk, and the MacBook Pro and iMac got a nano-texture display option that cuts down on glare. The Mac mini is priced starting at $599, the iMac starts at $1,299, and the MacBook Pro starts at $1,599.

New Zealand doesn't have any Apple retail stores, but Apple Stores in Australia will have stock configurations of the new Macs available for walk-in purchases. Supply constraints are not expected.

Following New Zealand and Australia, sales of the M4 Mac models‌ will begin in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and finally, North America.

Mine arrived in Auckland this morning from Hong Kong via Sydney.
It's been processed and currently marked as "Forwarded for delivery" as of lunch time one hour ago.
I might be lucky and get it tomorrow if NZ Post gets it's act together.
To be fair Apple did give me a delivery date of Nov13th.
Studio Display arrived over a week ago! Still sitting in it's box...
I did order a pretty high spec Mac Mini so it was probably built to order and not straight from a warehouse or I might have got it today.

I'm going to head into the Apple store this weekend and see if I can get lucky with the stock they have on hand. Fingers crossed.
 
Just set up the new base M4 Pro Mac mini with 24GB Ram and 512GB SSD. This is replacing an M1 Max Mac Studio (base model 32GB). I am primarily using Xcode and Android Studio as the "heavy" apps that I use. I don't do much video editing, etc. I can tell you now that this base M4 Pro is faster in every way than the M1Max it is replacing. Xcode builds on the M1 Max were taking up to 2-3 minutes, sometimes longer. They are taking less than 1minute on the M4 Pro. I was skeptical of going from 32GB ram to 24GB but when I saw some Geekbench 6 results, I was impressed. In person, I also ran Geekbench 6 and the M4 Pro scored higher in all areas of the CPU test and slightly lower in the GPU test, but was practically negligible lower score compared to M1 Max. Again, in real world, the M4 Pro is significantly quicker. Have not heard the fan yet, but I can say that whilst the Mac Studio was cool as a cucumber almost all the time, no matter what I was doing, you could cook a burger on the Mac mini, super hot to touch the top. Sitting on a desk, so that doesn't matter to me, but just thought I would share about the heat. Does not seem to affect performance.

Give it a few days and report back...the Mac Studio fan is a monster but the Mac mini fan must be tiny!

I walked into Harvey Norman today in Auckland and picked up a 26/512 no issues. They had a the full range available
