Just got surprised by the absurd prices, once again. I thought it'd be cheaper this time. Everyone told that MacBooks will be cheaper now because Apple has its own processor. Hasn't happened yet.
Dude, Apple isn't going to lower prices, you just get more (current) hardware for the (more or less) same prices.
If money is your issue, you are indeed better of not using Apple but switch to pc.

You probably are gonna regret leaving the ecosystem.

On the other side, you are gonna spend more money on other things when switching to PC.
Not in the last place getting a new computer faster then you are used to. Nothing beats the life expectation of a Mac for a regular user.

The cheapest M4 MacBook Pro is $2100. Wtf
You're paying $2100 for 16GB of Ram and 512GB SSD.
Nah, I'm really considering to switching to PC. You can get much better hardware for cheaper.

Cheapest m4 will outperform any PC laptop at same price. Never mind the screen, speakers, etc.

If you're looking for something comparable to most PC laptops, buy an Air. You'll still get a better trackpad, speakers, screen and wifi than most PC options.

Not really. I don't believe it. PCs at that price point have way more storage and way more ram.
You seem to not understand the concept of ram on PC vs Mac.
And why would you wanna put all your storage on your computer, need more room to store files, buy a external drive or use cloud providers.
Still want it on your computer? Pay for it.

No way I would want a pc with X TB of storage over a standard Mac with under a TB.

Your complaint is with the Polish government for charging 23% sales tax VAT The standard US price is $1600 but the 23% VAT makes it $1960 almost all of the price difference.

You need a new government that doesn’t tax essentials like computers, iPhone and iPad and charges 60% for handbags and watches costing more than $1000 and cars more than $100,000. Too many countries have old story leadership that doesn’t understand the importance of affordable MacBooks, iPhones and iPads.

In NYC our greedy politicians charge about 8% but in Delaware 0%. Still greedy NYC charges only 1/3 of Poland.

Woe is me. My M4 Max promised for 8-12 November on order day. Now slipped to 12. It's been shipped and has been waiting China side for outbound logistics for 3 days, according to tracking. Frustrating. Want to get my hands on the shiny new toy. Looks like it's now moving, so maybe a weekend delivery. Unusual for Apple - normally they beat their delivery estimates. Indication of larger demand?

Amsterdam, NL, UPS delivery - everything went smooth. What a beast of a machine.

Picked up my M4 MBP this morning. Migrated from Time Machine and was all up and running in a hour or so. This MBP has more storage (1TB as opposed to 256GB) and so I no longer need to keep my music library on an external drive. Loving the Space Black.

QQ: My MBP says it's out for delivery, which would be fine if I had it shipped to my home. But I opted for in-store pick up. Why wouldn't Apple have shipped it to the store so it would arrive before my advertised pick up day of Friday, 8 November, so I could actually pick it up on the 8th?

SSD speeds anyone? Particularly 256GB and 512GB to see if they went with single NAND again in the 256GB model (half the speed of 512GB).

Thanks to anyone who can fire off a Blackmagic test (or any SSD speed test).

That’s debatable. Also, windows is not the only operating system out there. There are Linux distros that use way less resources than a Mac. $2000 is too much for 16GB of ram for me.

Thats the only comment that actually makes sense, even though half of it was an irony. $1600 isn’t that bad if it’s tax included

Don't believe me then.

But storage and RAM capacities are irrelevant to performance unless the data set/application you're working with requires more than is available.

The M4 has faster AI processing, video processing, and general cpu performance than anything on the market at similar cost and it isn't even close.

hard to compare PC Ram to Apple Silicon Mac ram as the integration means that less ram on Mac is equal to more ram on PC.

Seems like a good idea until you start pulling your hair out over the terrible OS that is windows.
Windows is not a terrible OS + there are many other Linux distros out there as well.
Most games run on Windows and Windows 10 is pretty stable nowadays. I have had no issues whatsoever. I've had more issues with my MacBook Air M1, such as randomly shutting down etc.

Fair enough.

That’s the opposite experience I have to my work laptop (windows) and my personal computer (MacOS).
