For serious comparison you should compare M4pro and M5 with same configurations - and not 48 GB vs. 32 GB RAM, for example.

As already mentioned in this thread, M5 is almost on par with M4pro and whether M4pro or M5 depends on your usage behavior. M4pro has more bandwidth than M5 but M5 has faster RAM speed than M4pro.
For a lot of multitasking and heavy load, M4 pro is yours - for mixed use I would say M5.
yeah this the dilemma i'm in right now.... its either do I want thunderbolt 5 or the faster ram speed of the m5... do I plan on using thunderbolt 5 that much ?? the m5 seems faster than m4pro right now...

I got my M5 today. I’m so impressed.
I ran a Lightroom export with 752 RAW photos and compared the results with my other two Macs…a MacBook Pro 16” (M1 Max, 32 GB/1 TB) and a Mac Studio (M2 Ultra, 64 GB/1 TB).

14” M5 took 13 minutes 40 seconds (!!)

16” M1 Max took 20 minutes 15 seconds

Mac Studio M2 Ultra took 4 minutes 34 seconds.
