M5 11" iPad Pro Display is stuck at 50% Brightness (grayed out) immovable, iOS 26.6?

Restarted, Hard Restart, Restored from iMac stored backup. The Display is stuck at 50% brightness. The control is grayed out, immovable.

Settings/FaceID & Passcode/ Require Attention for Face ID - OFF/Attention Aware Features - OFF/

Privacy & Security/Lockdown Mode is OFF

Why is the display control grayed out at 50% brightness?

Dang I don't want to have to erase and download all new. Jeeeez!

   * Do a DFU restore if nothing else works.
   * If none of this works it's prob a warranty/service issue.

Reference Mode was ON. Thanks for the tip. I don't know how I turned it on, or if I did. You saved me just in time before I began wiping and clean install. Whew, that was close. Thanks again. PS: today was 100+degrees + humidity. It could have gotten hot just laying around. I had thrown a T-Shirt into the same chair which covered it up. The house is set at 77 degrees. Man, I'll never throw anything on top of it again.

Glad it worked, its always a bit of a pain to do a clean install.
26.6 and versions prior to that sometimes mess with settings when it's updated.

There was another setting changed a while back during an update that enabled "icloud private relay" on all devices at my work (that had iCloud+) which caused issues and had the network division shouting how much they hate Apple again. 😆

Dang, PC know it all’s. I’ve heard that crap since the IIFX. The only regrets i have is the loss of Call of Duty games. Ive never installed virus software on my Macs. Lol. Take that Microsoft.

Well, I can sympathize with them....sometimes , the icloud private relay auto-enable was a pain to figure out.
And Apple has been a pain in enterprise environments in the past, especially in a mixed Windows environment when people want to have a similar experience in terms of print, fileshare and so on.

But I have to say its getting better and better. These days Mac's can be managed with many mainstream tools (intune) and MS has really focused a lot on Mac lately so that they can coexist well in a mixed Win/Mac environment.

Do you have Reference Mode enabled? I think that locks the brightness as I recall. [Never mind. I didn't read the whole thread]
