Was open my YouTube last night and 50% of feed is videos about mac mini neo. Still think its fake AI generated videos.

Very well could be all fake.

I just think the product could make sense, but I also wouldn't bet on it.

The demographic into the Neo is most likely wants a full blown complete package Macbook that the Neo is, as opposed to a desktop Mac that still requires a screen and keyboard & pointing device.

Would Mac Mini Neo not require keyboard, mouse and monitor(s)? According to video it will match all colirs with macbook neo - #1 priority for 99% mac users. Difference will be in the cpu, not M, but the same that notbook used from iphone 16 pro, or new one with 12 GB memory

Time to recalibrate: The Neo (i.e., the laptop just released) is the new mac mini.

The old mac mini is now mainstream.

Then i will go with MBA or MBP M5, even if i do jot need a laptop. I just hope you are wrong and @turbineseaplane is correct.
Same to me. If the new Mac mini 16/512 starts as approx. 899,00 € in Germany and the Mac mini 24/1TB will be at approx. 1600 €, I'll buy an MacBook Pro M5 16/1TB or M5 24/1TB in the Apple refurbished Store. Even if I mostly use it at home and connect it with the Apple Studio Display. But's nice to have a laptop too for vacation etc.🙂

With 10% discount-offers on Apple Gift Cards the prices are actually in the German Apple refurbished Store:
  • MBP M5 16/1TB MDE14D/A: 1466,00 €
  • MBP M5 24/1TB MDE34D/A: 1655,00 €
At least, the 2 MBP M5 above will be not much more expensive then the expected (german) price for Mac mini M5 pendants, I think.

What's your opinion/ advice? Should I wait for WWDC 2026 or buy the MBP M5 now? Just sold my Mac mini M4 16/256 and working temporarily on my iMac 27" 2020 i5 32/256.

Just wondering why you sold your M4? Not enough storage, memory, or speed? Or upgrade to next model?

If Apple makes a mac neo with an a series chip the mini may be deleted and the studio may come with m, mpro, mmax und ultrachip, similar to the macbook pro, leaving the ultra only for the studio. Or the ultra will come in some kind of a mac pro.

Hello,
I only sold the Mac mini M4 because 256 GB of SSD storage wasn’t enough for me, so I connected an external Thunderbolt 4 enclosure with a 4TB NVMe drive to the Mac mini M4’s Thunderbolt 4 port.

However, I’d prefer to have fewer devices on my desk and would rather access all the media (photos, videos, music) for my active FCP and Lightroom CC projects from the internal 1TB SSD, since internal SSDs are supposed to perform even better. I also want to store the generated cache and other files from LRCCC and FCP locally. Once a project is complete, it is archived on the NAS.

That’s why I’m currently considering the following devices:
Mac mini M5 16/1TB (if it’s announced at WWDC)
MacBook Air M5 16/1TB
MacBook Pro M5 16/1TB

Although I primarily use my computer in a stationary setup with the Apple Studio Display – if the starting price for the Mac mini M5 in the base configuration (16/512) is €900.00 or more, the 16/1TB model will likely cost between €1,200 and €1,300.
In that case, a MacBook Air M5 16/1TB would be much more interesting to me. I don’t need a fan and additional ports, since I only use FCP and Lightroom occasionally, and even then not at full load.

It would all depend on the price, I think. If a Mac Mini Neo started at 399, that thing would fly from the shelves imho.

However: The inventory of the cheap binned A-series chips is apparently already depleted. If Apple ever had plans for a Mac Mini Neo, they will most likely abandon them now.

My prediction for a M5 base MacMini: 1) It will be probably be delayed until RAM prices have stabilized. 2) 899 minimum. (Demand is high, supply is low, you do the math.)
