Hopefully there is more than just an M5 chip else the dog-and-pony show is going to be pretty short.
I feel like it's going to be a very small update like from M1 to M2 on the iPad Pros.

More likely 12GiB because the M4 iPads already all come with 12GiB today. That's because the smallest M4 configuration has two 6GiB chips and iPads just limit to 8GiB in software. 4GiB chips of that type do not exist so Apple was forced to use the larger ones. Hence it will not cost Apple a single cent to remove the software limitiation.I have an inkling 16GB of RAM will become the default for the pros
Same. I’ve always been jealous of people that could keep their iPads for a super long time and just be happy with it. I got the M4 iPad when it launched last year so I’m gonna try to keep it until it stops being supported. That would be crazy if I could keep it for like seven years.I'll stick with the M4 for the next few years.
I believe that there is a chance that Apple could just release two new products, the iLaptop and iDesktop (for want of a better name) which run a version of iOS, and that over time the Mac will get fewer and fewer releases till Apple just stops producing it.Wonder when the iMac will go OLED.
Or even if there will *be* another iMac. The current model is basically a tablet on a stand as it is. With the new iPad OS integrating more Mac OS features, I can easily see 4-5 years down the road, an integration of iPad OS and Mac OS.
Maybe the stand could hold all the ports, and the screen could be a removable tablet.
Also does anyone know if this is W-OLED or QD-OLED?
I hope Apple is seriously positioning iPad Pro as mini-mba, and iPad mini will focus as tablet reader.
Apple is expected to release new iPad Pro models powered by its latest M5 chip later this year, and both Samsung Display and LG Display have reportedly begun mass production of the devices' OLED panels in preparation.

For last year's iPad Pro models which debuted OLED displays, Samsung handled supply for the 11-inch panels, while LG dealt with the 13-inch panels. This year, ZDNet Korea reports that the two manufacturers will share supply for both panel sizes, likely as a result of Apple's efforts to diversify its supply chain.
The change is also likely related to Apple's need to deepen OLED adoption across its suppliers. Reports suggest plans to introduce OLED panels for the iPad mini in 2026 and the iPad Air in 2027.
Aside from OLED displays, last year's M4 iPad Pro models adopted a thinner and lighter design, support for the new Apple Pencil Pro, and more. This year, the iPad Pro will likely receive a much smaller update, with no major upgrades rumored beyond the M5 chip, which will be manufactured on TSMC's more advanced 3-nanometer process technology for performance and efficiency improvements.
The only other potential change that's been rumored is for the Apple logo on the back to switch to a landscape orientation rather than a portrait orientation. That would make the Apple logo upright when the iPad is in landscape mode, such as when it is used with a keyboard.
Back in March, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said the new iPad Pro models could launch around October this year. For reference, the M4 iPad Pro models launched in May of 2024.

I been waiting for this to scratch that real laptop experience with iPad casual aspects. Is this doable now?? Or is the laptop experience still gimped??I’m running the beta and 13” iPad Pro and iPadOS 26 really feel like they are a match made in heaven.
It’s like with the iPhone and everything else. They will pick and choose features from various different products and only ever bring them up if that particular feature “beats” the iPad. Not one of these products can beat the iPad head to head. They beat the iPad on this one particular feature and then they tag it out for another product when it’s time to compare a different feature.Apple tried extra hard to NOT include Wifi7 in M4 iPad Pro. Need to sell Wifi7 for next tablet.
Apart from SOC, they are generations behind in almost everything
Wifi: behind
Cameras: behind
GPU: behind Qualcomm
Battery tech: behind
Screen anti reflective coating: far far behind
I am wondering what caused Apple to be industry laggards? The above technologies are not even brand new. They are 2-3 years old now.

Having just reread the original post I came here to say just this! Would be a pretty pointless change that would likely irritate me far more than it should. tbh - it probably isn't the keyboard usage that needs this, but perhaps more people are using it to watch YouTube the to read a book. And that kind of makes me sadder than it should. The problem with this is that if it's in landscape with a keyboard...you generally can't see the apple logo. it would then make it 'the wrong way' whenever it is in portrait, which is when you WOULD be able to see it.
It certainly feels like the era of Apple having a high standard when it comes to pixel defects has ended. It used to be that everyone else was shipping whatever junk displays they could find and Apple were the ones that were super reliable on that front. I guess saving a couple bucks on each device sold was more important.I didn't have any problem with that on my iPad Pro, but my M2 Max MacBook Pro 16" is on it's third display now and once again has dead pixels...
Made an account just to address how ridiculous and wrong your comment is.Apple tried extra hard to NOT include Wifi7 in M4 iPad Pro. Need to sell Wifi7 for next tablet.
