Amazon has introduced a few new record low prices on the new M5 MacBook Air this week, with up to $84 off these notebooks. The biggest markdowns can be found on the 13-inch MacBook Air, but there are still some solid deals on 15-inch models as well.

Incredibly we are getting better discounts in the UK on Amazon. Some of the base 13” colours are £992, basically 10% off, same with the 15” models. Got my 15” silver for £1,169.

Some M4 MBA models actually cost slightly more than the equivalent M5 model by a few pounds!

Make sure you get a great deal on the purchase side.

People really take it in the shorts on Apple stuff these days if they buy at MSRP.

There are people all over Facebook marketplace asking more for M2 and M3 models than you can just go out and buy an M4/M5 for directly. It makes me sad when they advertise with phrases like “I paid X.”

What you paid doesn’t really matter when trying to sell it later.

It used to be that there was almost no discounting on new products, only new old stock. Online shopping has completely changed the Apple sales strategy.

And I'm keeping my M3 MacBook Air as long as possible. Between it and my M4 Pro Mini, I expect years of useful computing from it.

I went from an M2 air to an M5 air fully speced out, and I’ve noticed a nice jump in timeline performance when editing in Final Cut , and to a lesser extent in Resolve. Even with the big GPU gains from the M4 to M5 it still needs a few more generations before the GPU is on par with the M1 Max.

My guess is the M8 air will probably match or exceed the M1 Max on GPU performance? Who knows, maybe the 2nm process will allow them to increase the GPU cores from 10 to 12 in future iterations of the air line? I’ll upgrade again when it has more GPU power than the M1 Max, hopefully in 2029.

Very happy with the M5, and the machine is quite good for video editing in Final Cut.

Good to see discounts on new models. Think there will be higher discounts in the future. Sadly no such offers in my country.
