I am in a situation where I may want my Windows 11 based laptop replaced with a MacBook Pro.
All while I was thinking for the M6 but I was wondering if M5 Pro Max would fit the bill.
Is it really worth waiting for the M6 Pro only because of 5G cellular and OLED ?

It all depends on whether you need it now or whether you can wait. If you wait, you may be waiting for specifications that never materialize. Generally it is better to act on what you actually know and not what might be, so if the M5 machines meet your requirements I would go ahead and make the move now rather than wait for an unknown period of time, for an unknown specification and an unknown cost. It all like the saying “A bird in the hand etc…”.

If you're buying a Mac to avoid ClickFix attacks, those are available for macOS as well. Personally, I buy hardware based on what's available now, not on what might be coming.

M5 Max would have much better processing and graphics.

M6 Pro will have a complete redesign, OLED display that’s perhaps a touchscreen, and is up to date for 2027 in terms of small features that improve quality of life

M6 Pro may not come with a 128 GB RAM variant whereas M5 Max does offer that.

there's nothing substantial about M6 redesign yet. i've contemplated waiting for another year but considering how much faster i can do everything on my M5 Pro i'm really glad i didn't
