We have an annual subscription for Topaz - https://www.topazlabs.com. It’s very good at what it does. We use it today on our 2019 Mac Pro Intel and it kind of does a decent job. However, it’s limited by the Mac Pro being Intel-based, and because of this some of the Topaz features simply cannot be used on the 2019 Mac Pro. When we encounter this we have to package up video content and transfer it to Topaz to do the work on their services.
The annual subscription we have for Topaz includes a limited number of credits we can use when transferring video content packages to Topaz for them to do work we cannot do locally without being charge a fee. Once all our credits are used we have to pay a fee to Topaz.
We are hoping and believe the M5 Ultra Studio we will have shortly will save us money and time when wanting to employ Topaz for helping performing all the amazing things Topaz and the other AI video software packages can accomplish.
To this end, the M5 Ultra should be capable for running all of the Topaz software features locally without issues or encountering compatibility issues and will avoid using the Topaz credits. In addition, the many other fancy AI-based video features that simply cannot be used on the 2019 Mac Pro will also run smoothly on the M5.
Yea, AI can be used to minimize workload times along with getting better results. However this can be seen to cause job loses at larger businesses than ours as it removes the need for manual effort. Let it be said, that businesses will adapt to use these AI video features simply because they are available and save operational costs. For our small self employed business it simply makes sense.
