Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I decided to return the m5 MacBook and bought the 2016 13" MacBook Pro w/ TB instead.

Even though I loved the extremely lightweight profile that the 12" MacBook offered, I just wanted a laptop with more "oomph"--and I find the TB model MBP fun to work with. I felt like there was something off about the keyboard on the 12" MacBook... I just couldn't get comfortable with the compactness of the keyboard. The MBP's added speaker grills (and, therefore, an inch of extra space on either side) added some stability when I was typing on my lap.

Wish I could afford to keep both of them, since they're both wonderful machines.

I went from a 13" t/MBP to a m5 MB a few weeks ago. For what I use it for, I can't really tell the difference in speed. The RAM limitation however does occasionally get me to reboot the machine once a day. I had the first model two years ago and this version feels a lot snappier.

What symptom are you seeing that makes you think you need to reboot due to the RAM limitation?

I thought OSX memory management means that this is never required on macOS.

Things slow down a little and become less responsive. I'm sure memory management works just fine but there's only so much it can do with 8GB I guess :)

Thanks....so very subjective. I use mine a lot and haven't noticed this.

Can you try this for me....when you next feel it has slowed down and you are about to reboot, open Activity Monitor, and post a screenshot of the window at the bottom of the Memory tab, like my screenshot below. I would be interested in whether you are seeing high memory pressure.

Ouch! I bought my maxed out 2016 M7 for 6900 TL, now it's 8250 TL!
Bought my BTO 15" MBP for 13800 2 months ago, now it's 17000! I mean holy sh*t!

I've kept my 13" cMBP (mid-2012, 2.9 GHz Core i7, 16GB ram, 1.5TB fusion drive (rolled my own)). So, if I need some more oomph, this long-in-the-tooth cMBP can still deliver the goods.

The 12" MB is drop dead sexy though. :)

I currently have the original MacBook 1.2 512GB, want to upgrade was using bootcamp on the old machine and want to use Parallels with the new machine. Really debating between getting another MacBook, or keeping the 13 Inch Touch Bar MacBook I just purchased. I can't decide - but I sure do love the portability of the smaller machine. Although it seems slower than this new 2016 MBP.

Does anybody have any experience running Parallels with the MacBook. I need a windows side for work. I wonder what will be best for me. Any input is appreciates.

Mostly work stuff, email, internet, some photos, but need the windows side to work well. Thanks in advance.

I ran Parallels on my 2015 m3 so that I could use my Macbook at work. I used it mostly to access network files when needed, but I never experienced any slow down.

I use Parallels and Windows 7 32bit a lot on my m5 rMB. Works as expected. But surely rMBP will work with VM even better, especially if you have 16gb or ram, so you could allocate more to windows side.
