Touchscreen on current MBA == no from me. A new MBA "Yoga" with the same hinge and functionality as the Thinkpad Yoga == huge win. I am running Ubuntu on an older Yoga. This type of 2-in-1 is the most awesome device ever imho. Strangely Ubuntu works really well on it. Not sure Apple would do this as they greatly prefer two sales vs. one. But if they do a good MBA Yoga... immediate buy. Flame me if you want, but I have been a pretty (very) hard-core Mac fan for many decades. Yet Unbuntu on the Yoga is the best PC experience I have had, and I want Apple to do it. If you hate any and all touch screens, please note that I am asking Apple for a new SKU, not something that forces you to buy a touchscreen for the existing MBA/MBP designs. HTH, NSC

all I want just a lighter and thinner MBP with Thunderbolt 5 ports only. I dont need any external ports other than thunderbolt. Weight and size are more important to me

If making the MacBook Pro thinner means throttling the processor and reduced heat management, then DON'T DO IT APPLE! It's a Pro Machine and it needs to prioritize performance over aesthetics. Additionally, I'd gladly take Face ID over a touchscreen. Face ID is loooooooong overdue in the MacBook Lineup.

Sounds like it may be thinner due to thinner display so that shouldn't impact how they keep the processor cool in the base.

No wonder young people live with FOMO and have small d**k sindrome. Can we enjoy the M5 for 42 seconds before we start speculating about the M6?
This is not a rumor this is pure speculation, it doesn’t benefit anyone

To be fair this is MacRumors, thats the norm here. If you dont want this then dont go to a rumor place.

If they change to a "dynamic island" without including FaceID, it'll be utterly stupid. Having it half an inch down from the bezel will be even more annoying on a laptop screen than a phone which you sometimes turn horizontal.

It really speaks to the quality of the M-series CPUs (and the current-style MPBs in general) that I'm still using an M1 Max MPB... and here four years and a couple days on am only being mildly tempted by the M5s, which is not due to them being lackluster like some of the anemic Intel speed bumps.

Previously I had four years as pretty much a default upgrade cycle on my main laptop, and if that didn't align with the release date of a new model I found myself getting antsy for one.

This time, even though an upcoming M5 Pro or Max will be well over twice as fast as what I'm using now (even the M4 Max is right around double), the M1 Max is still so capable that I don't feel like I need it at all, so might as well wait for the bigger changes presumably coming along with the M6.

Touch, however, is one of those things that just has no interest whatsoever for me. We have the option on Windows machines at work and rarely get it unless there's no other option, and on the computers I've used that do have touchscreens I don't think I've ever once poked the screen, nor seen a user do except when the garbage Dell trackpad wasn't working and there was no other option.

An iPad that can run macOS (or at least full macOS apps) when connected to a screen could be useful. The chips are powerful enough – desktop Mac at work, iPad to go.

That would actually be a cool product. Ruining MacOS to make it touch friendly is a horrible idea and complicating iPadOS to make it more like the Mac is also probably not great
