I have received donated computers for a non-profit foundation I am involved with. The two computers in question are a Powerbook G4 3 with plenty of RAM and Desktop G5. Can I install Mac OS 10.5.6 on both of these machines and will they perform adequately?

    Thanks,

What are the specs of the G4? The G5 will be fine.

You should be able to. The PowerBook will depend on the processor speed, as well as what plenty of RAM is.

I know where the G4 came from but don't know the specifics. The compay usually beefs them up. This G4 was in operation 3 years so it was purchased in late 2005. THe hard drives have been wiped so I was going to purchase a 5 user Mac OS 10.5.6 and load the 2 powerbooks and 2 destops to be used by the foundation.

If it is from late 2005, it should run Leopard just fine.

I would say that Tiger performs better for PPC machines, especially G4 machines.
