Shouldn't this be in the "Buying Tips, Advice and Hardware Discussion" subforum? I kid, I kid.:p To answer your question, you will get no answer from me:D, I don't even want to begin thinking about the advances that will be made.

more GHz, more cores, more & faster RAM, greater hard disk space, SATA III or IV, nvidia 10 or 11 series pretty much how the PC will be in 10 years but well have Mac OS X 10.>5… 10.10??

the iPhone will pretty much be a Mac by then with faster CPU and network speeds plus it will be a lot slimmer

well still have the good 'ol keyboard and mouse but there will be a multi touch tablets for the professional designers.

:)

the iphone will be 5mm thick, it will just be a plane the same size as the screen. It will use a 3d holographic dislpay, two front facing cameras for 3d video confrencing, and to rear facing cameras if you want to show some thing.
The macs will be planes aswel, all with mutitouch (just like a big iphone)

Let's see...

256-bit CPU w/64-cores @ 200ghz each
64-terabytes of RAM
500-terabyte flash drive
30" 3D LCD

And to counteract over 15 years of metals and plastic, Apple will be the first to go with mahogany, teak and other fine wood enclosures designed by Bombay Company.

Vivid yet realistic imagination. Very Cool though, sums it up just nicely.

Sounds very realistic. Only, the iphone will already be in the 99 and less market I think.

I think these changes are a little optimistic, its going to take at least another 4-5 years for all applications on the Mac to be Cocoa applications.

Its probably going to take 10 years for Windows applications to be in a similar position, let alone multi-touch.

Um, wow....It really is hard to imagine. In my head it feels like I just could not imagine it at all. But then when you think back 10 years I reckon people could have predicted what computers would've been like today. They're pretty much the same concept.

In ten years time I believe the Mac will be on the Internet. Everything. That's all I can really think of it. I don't know how they would take advantage of all this but I believe everything will be in the air and synchronised with everything by then. That, and maybe quicktime will support .avi's.

I think you're bang on. And MobileMe is the beginning of it all. Just look at this note on the MobileMe page:

Access and manage your email, contacts, calendar, photos, and files at me.com. All with amazing applications that are so feature-rich and easy to use, you may end up preferring them to your regular desktop applications.

I think we're going to see the complete iLife suite ported to MobileMe very soon - possibly within the next two years. iPhoto. iTunes. iWork. iEverything.

For one, the only way a keyless computer will ever be popular is if it has a virtual keyboard that projects itself out or something along those lines, or perhaps a psychic line-in.

Besides, it certainly won't take 6 years for Apple to create a larger version of the iPone/iPod Touch.

Besides, 10 years ago the assumption for Apple was that it would be dead. Look at it now. I can't imagine what it'll be like in 2018.

Speech recognition where I can use my voice to manipulate everything on the computer. I could shuffle a deck of cards while I edit an image in photoshop with vocal commands. Now that would be fun.

I don't think any of us could possibly say, given the pace at which the computer industry changes and things get better, faster, thinner etc.

When the first business computers came out, IBM said that no one would ever want a personal computer... Apple proved them wrong:p

Its amazing the progress that is made year-on-year though.

the whole computing area could shift in 10 years time.

but i think things will certainly move to more 'hands on' so who knows.

Either way, I hope a balance is kept between ideas like having most applications accessed online and keeping things in the hands of the user.

They'll still be "Officially waiting for <insert 2019 chipset/CPU>" threads here, that's for sure :p
