It is a 512k that has been upgraded modified and tweeked. It has 4mb of memory but I think it may have a 407 drive. I'm booting from the external hard drive and it gives me the option to format a double sided disk but will only format one side. I will have to work on the se soon.

A 512Ke with upgraded RAM is basically a Plus.

I don't have room to store this and my wife has said it must go, so I am listing the 512k, the external Hd, the carrying bag and the printer tonight on ebay. My 10 year old son has begged me to hold on to the SE So I will. I just wanted to let everyone know in case anyone had interest in these. I have had fun working on them and have learned some new things.

It is very possible that these were 'developer units', but a developer system is not the same as a prototype system.

Developer systems were used to create, and test software, and test add-on hardware.

I used to have heaps of Apple developer stuff, ranging from 1978 to 1985 (gifted to me) but most of it was stolen, and I fear for what happened to it after that. (I should have donated it to a museum.)

I would be curious about any software, on the HDD or the diskettes that you have with these. I strongly advise making images of anything and everything, to preserve it for historical record.
