Here is a video of a Mac 512K controlling iTunes on another computer. It can request a catalog of songs, play specific songs over an iHome Airplay speaker, and view the album art directly on the Mac 512K!

I love how the GIF paints itself onto the screen... :D

Great stuff. I'm guessing that AppleShare changed enough over the years that the 512k and the Air can't talk to each other? (Hence the need for the G3?) If so, what is sending the catalog and the artwork files back to the 512k?

Yes, AppleShare has changed many times. When it dropped AppleTalk, older classic Macs were unable to communicate with new Macs. Heck, even the Powerbook G3, which speaks TCP/IP over AppleShare, can't even communicate to the last couple versions of Mac OS X. That's why I have to use FTP to send the text files to the Macbook Air, and FTP to deliver the Artwork back.

Yeah, it would take some mental resource to keep both computers in your head at once.
I'll bet he still plays with the old one a lot, and hasn't forgotten about it.
