Bundle splitting etiquette

Hi. Does anyone know where/if it's appropriate to post a message asking about splitting a bundle?

I'm interested in the Copyhackers Ebooks in the bundlehunt bundle. I don't know if this is the right forum to discuss it, though. But I'm not sure where else is more appropriate.

Which bundle(s) did you have in mind?

I'd be leery of a package of 6200+ fonts (and the "value" of $300). You generally get what you pay for in fonts, and no decent fonts sell for 5 cents each!
If someone is buying this just for the font collection, you might want to check out the 300+ royalty free fonts that Google offers first:
http://www.google.com/webfonts/

TechTool has always been something I'm slightly interested in buying, but it seems like it's gotten more and more useless over time. Apple system test can tell me if my hardware is fine, (and I've never needed to use it anyway) and for disk problems I could just boot from the Lion install disc I burned and run Disk Utility.

... I might buy it anyway though.

I just picked up the Productivity Bundle.. One thing I can say, is that I am so use to the App store that this process is rather painful now to do.

Here is hoping sometime in the future I will be able to use the app store on items I have purchased!

In any case, the AppStore doesn't allow bundles like this - each developer would have to reduce the price and you'd have to buy each app individually.
Or the dev could just send out MAS promo codes for people who purchase the bundle - unless the number of generated codes is limited somehow.

I think promo codes are limited.

Some of those bundles ( mac update ) have 10s of thousands of purchases... Even if it were possible to generate that many promo codes - a bit of a headache if there's no automatic process! :-D

Heh. I guess I'm one of the few people seeing most of the software in the bundles for the first time.

I bought the Productive Macs bundle and do not need any of these:
Notebook
Launchbar
BusyCal
Home Inventory

PM me if you'd like to make a deal!

With these two added to the mix there are now 5 Mac bundles going on. A bit insane. Mac Legion, BundleHunt, MacFriendly [which ends in 7 hours, has the font pack and is $10 cheaper], plus the two listed here. And there were 2 others that just ended, plus Mac Bundler is about to begin.

Oh, and The Mac Bundles is going on now too.

I have affiliate links to all of these, but I'm not putting them in this post - just google the terms to find the sites.

Oh, and Deals2Have is also having some Mac software on sale. Oh, and Cult of Mac has a 11-app bundle too. Crazy!
Interesting, I wasn't aware of the others. Bookmarked for future reference.

As for the Font pack, it's worth noting the one in MacFriendly was the 'pro' version (selling for $150) with 1000 fonts, whereas the MacUpdate bundle has the 'Master' collection of 6200 (selling at $300). From what I can gather, each variant in a font family like Italic, Extended, Condensed etc counts as one, so not 6200 different fonts. Which is fine, having a good font family counts for more if you aren't just out for a headline display font that looks like the Star Wars logo etc.

Where did you find this PDF? I cannot find it anywhere.
I found it on their website. I think it was this one linked from their 'complete collection':

Yes, the developers are limited to only 50 promo codes per version of application. So it's really not possible to create bundles in the Mac App Store.

Also, some of the application/resources are not available in the Mac App Store. Like these font collections and powerful system utility applications like Default Folder X and LaunchBar.

I was reading on the Launchbar support forums a while back that in order to get it on the AppStore they'd have to reduce the functionality quite a bit, and that was something they didn't want to do.

Yes or no? I think I'm gonna get the MacUpdate bundle. iClip, the Fonts, the labeling program, and some of the Techtool features make it seem worth it.

added functionality

Definitely one of the things I REALLY dislike about my Windoze machines. I'm always having to download third party applications or buy software, when my Mac has that exact same functionality built in!

I generally agree - Apple makes the Mac very functional AS IS. About the only software I've been happy I found and downloaded was PDF Studio Pro. The $125 was well worth it, cause now I can actually edit PDFs, which is helpful for the classes I teach. When I need to update the syllabus that I've downloaded from a free teacher resource site, I can easily change text, dates, or even the logo/picture I'm using that time. And, Studio Pro lets me mark the student's work and email it out right from the tool. Really makes it easier to prepare for classes, review materials from students, and send back results - all without having to change programs.

Once again.....No UK purchase at those prices. I will be glad to get home:) Having said that, there are only a couple on the list's that I either don't already have, or would like.

Never Winter Nights and iclip....Guess I can wait a while.:)
