Hey,

Ever since upgrading to 10.6.8, I've been unable to log into the Mac App Store with my account info (which worked perfectly in the App Store in 10.6.7, and still works fine in iTunes, etc.). The error says "Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance." when I attempt to log in. Anybody know what's causing this error?

Thanks so much--

Did you contact support for assistance?

It just may be that they need to reset your account due to a corruption during the update.

You can also go into iTunes and make sure that computer is an "authorized" computer for your account. Or de-authorize it and then re-authorize it again and try the Mac App Store.

Same App Store Problem with 10.6.8

I am having the exact same problem with the App Store. I cannot update or purchase any apps anymore. It says:

Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance.

If I do not find a solution.. I am thinking of downgrading to 10.6.7.

Same problem here.. Updated to 10.6.8 and now it will not work. I have checked itunes which works fine. Computer is Authorized, signed in, etc

Its only the app store.. I did see somewhere else though someone talking about their ethernet controller changed from en0 to en1 or something.. I opened my network settings and sure enough mine is listed as en1 instead of en0.. I have no idea what that has to do with anything or if it even does, but just posting about it and I can not download from the app store as well..

Anyone find a fix yet?

No GUID error to the Your device or computer....error

Hey,

I've been having the same problem with the app store sign in as well. The problem at least on my end started out as a "No GUID....." but has now morphed into the:

"Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance."

Here is a LINK to the Apple Support Communities site where they are talking about the issue:

Here are some Links from the Tonymacx86 website. This is a website for people running OS X on non Apple approved hardware but they appear to have the same problems as real mac owners.

Anyway, this is my first post here so I hope it helps someone. I'm still trying to fix it myself.

Had this problem, too. Seems to be an issue with network interfaces is checked by App Store. You can delete the plist-File for the network. Here´s a howto http://welcome2inter.net/news/newsdetails.html?identity=35

Tried this and it did not work, but thanks for the idea. Apples support tried something similar as I have the same issue and after a bit they said, their network is overloaded so it times out and cannot verify my machine as a mac and I should try at a slower time. ( Im calling BS though as I tried all last night even at 4am eastern and all day today and keep getting the same error). Right now cannot purchase or even log into app store, Itunes and Mac Store are fine. I will call them back as it seems there is no solution to this at this time for those affected.

Any fix to this now? I had lion on my MacBook Air, had to go back to SL, and am now ready to upgrade back to Lion.

Now, the App store will not let me in! iTunes is fine, same apple ID...

1 hour on the phone with APpleCare. They had me install a big update for SL that I doubt I needed ( I got SL installed from the Applae Store a month ago, I assume they had the updated version).

Either way... after all that... Same prob. Cant log onto app store.

Help?

I solved it by changing my credit card info

What solved it for me is to go into the iTunes store and update/change the credit card and home address. I would suggest that you remove your credit card and then re-add it. I hope it works for you same as it did for me. I can now purchase apps from the App Store and recently purchased a couple of small apps as well as Lion upgrade.
