And unlike Windows or macOS, as long as you're not using GNOME you can theme it to look like anything you want.Yep, that is why we are switching our macs to Linux.

As I wait for software evolutions to slowly turn my two Intel Clasic Mac Pro (5,1) Machines into expensive doorstops. I vididly recall the night I had to Dash to an Apple Store – when a client sent me iDesign files that would not open on the G5 Power Mac Tower, I needed a version of InDesign that ran on an OS version that machine would not run. I had to nick out and buy the Mac Pro (now Workstation #2) that very night, or abandon the project (and many future projects!) I think that was about 2011 or so. Have since acquirred a 2nd more recent one equipped with an RX 580 GPU. Quite a stout beasite, if also starting to age out. These poor mid 2010’s Macs are running out of options. Win10 EOL and Apple will probably drop Intel support this year — meaning end of OpenCore.
They’ll be like the PPC Macs in 2009.
Apparently was fixed by Apple yesterday. Access was restored on both my machines as well. (High Sierra & Mojave)It seems to work fine on Mojave for me. Signed out and back in and get an app too all worked as expected.
Same. I had reasonably determined it was an Apple server-side issue as I could still log into my Apple ID account, iCloud, iTunes & iTunes Music Store, and the App Store operated normally on my M2 Pro MacBook Pro. No suggestion or admission from Apple support that the problem could have possibly been at their end.... grrr arrgh.it is fixed today on the same computers without me having to do anything, therefore it must have been a server-side issue with something sent by Apple that older versions couldn't handle, which Apple has now corrected.
you forgot turn it off and back on.Not to worry, everybody, for the OFFICIAL Apple troubleshooting steps are available from Apple Support:
- This is not an issue because Apple Support has not heard of it. Apple Support hears of issues before they affect any customers, because Apple Support talks to millions of customers an hour.
- To troubleshoot this known issue, you should uninstall and reinstall the app. To do so, uninstall the app, restart your device, and reinstall the app.
- If the issue continues, you will need to erase and reinstall the OS. After reinstalling the OS, do not restore from a backup.
- If the issue continues, Apple Support will initiate an RTA to Engineering. They will need to collect logs. You will download the log-collecting app, open the app and initiate the log collection, with Mail logging enabled just to be safe. You will then need to replicate the issue. After you have replicated the issue, you will end logging and upload the logs to Apple Support.
- Engineering will reply within 48 hours. The standard response will be issued: this is a known issue, keep your device up to date, and no further troubleshooting will be provided.
Actually, that works more times than I care to admit, when I am helping friends, family and others in a tech support manner.you forgot turn it off and back on.
Au contraire, mon frere, take a look at Step 2!you forgot turn it off and back on.
You could update to an iMac Pro with 18-core Xeon's via eBay or other third party sellers that still have them for sale or anything around there and still run 10.13 up to the latest macOS.I would actually love to update from Mojave on my 2013 iMac that still runs freaking great and I still even do client work on. This is while having my newer m1 Max MacBook pro on a separate station. I know what a pain in the butt Catalina was from maintaining my designers computers at one of my old jobs. But once you get past the avalanche of permissions, it basically runs as normal.
But of course upgrading is a huge issue because Apple doesn't allow drivers for the graphics hardware in the machine. These are Nvidia based machines and throwing it out and just getting another machine is not an option ever.
Just get a new computer? Well there's no 27-in iMac either. Even the latest iMac with its smaller screen and completely embarrassing options which makes it less of a machine than the Mac mini. They really want you to buy that Mac mini so you can get tempted to buy one of their overpriced monitors with no power button.
I love my actual Mac hardware in the os, but man I really hate apple. I don't rely on any of their services after the final cut debacle many years ago. If you want to be an apple land with watches and services that's on you enjoy. But as a user since 7.5, I don't trust them as far as I can throw them with their services.
Cheers to all cheers to all of the awesome old 27" imacs out there!
Hell, that's usually the FIRST thing I try when shizzz gets weird. Also, quitting all ADOBE apps... Sometimes they don't get the “work and play well with others” memo...Actually, that works more times than I care to admit, when I am helping friends, family and others in a tech support manner.
Today, I tried again with no avail on macOS 10.14.x. Mac App Store tells me, macOS 14.5 is needed to update. After deinstalling a working copy of Remote Desktop 3.9, the same message: macOS 14.5 required to download. On macOS 14.7.6, I'm running Remote Desktop 3.9.9. That's a really weird new behavior of MAS. Anyway, thank you for testing and giving me feedback.I also tested downloading Remote Desktop and no issues on 10.14 getting the older version.
