Backup, the software I got through .Mac, seems pretty limited. I really need to do incremental backups to keep my machine backed up. Entourage, with its database system, makes these very large incremental backups indeed. Would SuperDuper serve me better? Is it really free?

Yes, it's really free in restricted form. Paying the $27.95 for the full version is worth it though.

For the money (amongst other features) you get smart updates, so only the changes get saved which makes backups much faster, and the ability to schedule automated backups.

For my work system (using Entourage with a 2Gb database) I have an automated full system backup at the end of every business day. This takes around 10 minutes and gives me a fully bootable backup with no involvement. In addition I take a full backup to a sparseimage file before every OS X update, just in case.
