i was thinking about buying the macbook air but then i thought what i am i doing, my macbook which is cheaper was faster than this and even had an optical drive. then i was thinking the MBP is 1 inch think so that mean that MBA is only .24 inches thinner. do you really need that .24 inches to sacrifice for a great proccescer with an OPTICAL DRIVE!!

Really now, there are already dozens of threads explaining different angles.

Here is a summary:

The MacBook Air is the most powerful computer in the 3 LB weight class for $1799. It also has the largest screen and keyboard, and is actually more flexible than other sub notebooks which lack their optical drives (because you can have both an external as well as the nifty PC / Mac optical drive sharing software). It also just happens to be the thinnest, and I dare say the most sexy.

The MacBook Air, like all comparable systems, is NOT built for speed and power.

Also its .24 thinner at its THICKEST point. If you look at the side angles of the MacBook Air you'll see it rapidly gets thinner towards the front.

Also its marvelous tech. They did what other companies haven't been able to.
