I see a lot of posts about issues with the 16 Mac Book Pro. Is it worth it to buy the 2019 15.4" or the 2020 16". I don't mind the keyboard on the 15"?

What issues are you hearing about? The machine is very good overall. With the new GPU option, it has quite lot of headroom for most professionals given how thin and small of a computer it is. One big upgrade to the 16" is the scissor keyboard. Otherwise it's very similar to the 15.4".

Just looking at the forum - I see a lot of complaints about heat, noise, and screen quality on the 16"

How soon do you need a new machine? They're supposed to switch to micro LED in 6-12 months. The current 16" is excellent however. If you have no need for a new machine now might as well wait. If you really are hurting for an upgrade I would recommend the 16"... they were selling the 8 core 1TB for a couple hundred off recently. There are usually some sales going around. Even the 6 core is good depending on your needs. If you do pro work I would recommend the 8 core 1TB 4GB VRAM model at least.

I didn't know that they maybe switching to micro LED in 6-12 months. I have a 2017 13" but I really need more cores and memory for what I do. However I could wait a little longer.

I just traded up from the 2019 15" to the 2019 16". Go with the 16". It's a far better machine all the way around. Display, keyboard, thermals, speakers, memory clock rate, price, etc. Zero issues with mine, there's really no contest between the two.
