Mac book pro not connecting to wireless

i have a problem with my macbookpro it is not connecting to my wireless internet. When i put the ethernet cable in it works just the airport isn't working.

ps i know it isnt my modem because my imac is connected to it fine using airport.

help.

Here's the most obvious question: can you connect to other wifi networks? Go to your local coffee shop and try to connect.
