Someone sent me a calendar notification. You know the kind, you can press accept or decline. If you press accept then the date, time, and place get placed on your calendar. Well, all I get is "Server responded with an error" when I press accept. I f***ing hate this.

This appears to help

Reactivate Calendars

Try reactivating Calendars. This means that we will disconnect calendars from iCloud or Google in “System Preferences” and then reactive. Here is how:

  1. Open System Preferences on your Mac.
  2. Click Internet Accounts.
  3. Select your calendar account (Google, AOL, iCloud, etc) that is giving you this error message.
  4. Uncheck the “Calendars” box.
  5. Now restart your Mac.
  6. Now go to System Preferences and re-enable Calendars.

The above worked for a couple of days. Then the problem re-appeared again.

I guess Apple can't work with Google calendar any longer. Personally, I'm fine with not using Google - but the problem is that other people using the Google calendar will add me to their meetings. Because Apple Calendar is dysfunctional - I can't add the meeting without these lame "server responded with an error" messages.

Slowly but surely - Apple is de-evolving toward a the scrambled sensibilities of Microsoft Windows.

Hopefully, this is just because I'm using a 2015 MacBook Pro with macOS Monterey.

Not to dredge up an old thread, but I'm running into this as well (2014 MB Pro on BigSur). My family all runs on Google calendar. I use mostly stock Apple apps with Google incorporated (Calendar & Mail), but this is extremely frustrating. Everything is fine on my iPhone, but my Macbook does not play nice. Everything I read on the Apple support community forums seem to believe this is an Apple problem. As for now I've just relegated to Google calendar in the browser which is a real pain. I like to drag emails into the calendar to create events, but this error message prevents you from doing anything in the calendar.
