Mac.com email account question

I'm trying to log into my mac.com email account. It's the same email and password I use for itunes. I typed it into my Mail app and it wont work. Do I have to be a MobileMe subscriber for it to work?

.Mac was rebranded MobileMe. It's been a pay service for years now.

How does your account for iTunes work then? Do you get emailed for billing?

The one thing I hate about Mobile Me is how it thinks it is royalty on iTunes i.e. you can't transfer an email to Mobile Me.

I just put in my debit info and that's the email i typed in initially and it just works...

So the email don't work without paying... that sucks
