mac.com or me.com?

My G4 (Tiger) Mail prefs won't allow me to set up my mac mail account as a me.com address. I save it, but it keeps coming back as mac.com. At the mobile me website my address ends in me.com.

Are these both interchangeable in the background?

They're one and the same.

When it's working it appears so, but the SMTP servers are not always reliable which gave rise to my question. Sometimes the mac.com server works, sometimes I need to use the me.com server in my Mail account prefs. Definitely still a work in progress.

It has been a very frustrating 2 months with me.com till I finally got the time to pop up at my local store and found the problem .....

You need to cancel your @mac.com account on mibeleme settings ... then log in again with your @me.com account ....

When doing this for the first time don´t forget to have your ipod touch/iphone plugged in to your main computer.

In my case this FINALLY resolved my problems.

Still .... my ical is still buggy but at least works
