Mac compatible 600dpi flat scanner

I have a rather large 1,500+ photo and slide scanning project coming up and of course need a scanner to do it. I'd prefer a flatbed scanner that scans up to 600dpi and has pretty good Mac support at least in SL.

Anything up to $500 is fine.
