I have a mid 2005 mac ibook g4 at 1.33ghz. When i start it up for about half hour my cpu is peg at between 90% to 100%. I open the activity monitor and it seems to be something called system UI server that is doing it. If i close the system UI monitor my cpu drops around 5%. But within 10 seconds system UI monitor will start up again but my cpu will only hang around 10%. Does the system UI montior do anything i need? If it does need to run can i do something from it pegging my cpu so high. Within 15 minutes my cpu temp is up to 150 degrees and the cpu fan is running at full speed. Thanks for the help.
