I have a Macbook Pro with a Windows dual boot. It boots fine into Windows - everything works. But if I try to boot into Mac OS, it never happens. I tried booting from the original CD - and I can see a very, very dark screen with menu choices - but cannot see it well enough to do anything. I tried pressing shift and S and bootup - and both of those options also give me the very dark screen that I cannot read.

Did you try to increase the brightness with the keys up top. I'm not sure what key it would be on your computer but on the Newer macbook pros it's F2 will increase the brightness, or fn F2 depending on how you have it set.

Yes, I tried every combination I could guess. It works great in Windows so I know the screen actually works.
