The master data storage on my Mac Pro 6,1 (an M.2 SSD in a Transcend Jetdrive TB enclosure) was getting full and I got a Corsair MP400 4TB SSD to upgrade it.

However, I cannot get it seen by my Mac. I could see it, and clone the content of the former disk, in a PCIe adapter in my Linux desktop, but it remains invisible when connected to my Mac in the TB enclosure (and the necessary Mac M.2 adapter). The same setup works fine with a 2TB Intel 660p.

Any idea where the problem could come from?
  • A MacOS problem with M.2 SSDs > 2TB?
  • A Mac problem with Corsair MP400s specifically?
  • A problem with the enclosure or the Mac M.2 adapter?
I guess one thing I could try is a USB enclosure but, long term, I’d rather keep the Thunderbolt speed and TRIM support.

It must have been a problem with the Transcend Jetdrive TB enclosure or M.2 adapter since I got Corsair MP400 4TB NVME SSD to work in a Seagate Gaming dock connected to my MP6,1.

Interesting, wanted to use the 2TB version in one of these cases: Icybox M.2 NVMe Enclosure - had good experience using those with Crucial SSDs, it's tiny, cheap + fast... Will post it here, in case it causes issues ;)

I have the same problem using the MP400 8TB and the OWN Envoy Express. Any hints if this could be a MacOS bug?

Am facing the same issue with the same drive. Formats fine in windows. I’m trying with a number of enclosures. Did anyone get a positive outcome?
