I have an external CD/DVD/Blu-ray player for my Mac that enables me to watch discs and rip my CDs to iTunes.
I’ve had it for a few years and it’s always worked fine. Now I can’t play or rip because the software option on my Mac, that automatically plays the discs when I put them into the player, has suddenly disappeared from the settings. I’m at a loss to explain this. Any help welcome. The external player seems to be working fine.

Which iMac do you have?
What year was it made?
What version of the OS is running on it?

What app were you using to play the discs, and what app to rip the discs?

Why not just open the apps "manually", and then continue from there?

Thanks. Easily sorted. Just tried putting USB in a different port and hey presto everything worked again. Sometimes the solution is the easiest to do and miss!
