i have a bunch of mac computers here, and i want to make a fileserver for them with about 5 drives in an RAID array to be a little bit secure. im fairly certain how to go about and build myself a basic fileserver for a bunch of PCs networked together, but im not sure about how to do it for a network of macs.

if anyone could shed some light on this, i would appreciate it

thanks,
Dave.

Can't see why it would be different because now your client machines are Macs. Just find a server chassis that holds all the drives or an external disk array box. Load your preferred operating system (I'd use Solaris and ZFS. It really is the best set-up for a file server now that Solaris ships with ZFS and native CIFS support)
