Mac freezes while switching Photoshop's tool

Hi Guys!

I don't know why, but recently I noticed this problem: when for instance I switch from rectangular to elliptical selection Photoshop and all the Mac freezes for some seconds and che the CPU is up to 100% thanks to Photoshop

Ay solution?

P.S: I have got the Mac in the sign
