Mac G5 - Confirmation before purchase of cables

I'm looking to buy cables like these.
Before I do so, I want to know if it's possible to use these cables to dual screen with my mac G5 PowerPC. It's running 10.4, but will upgrade to 10.5 in May.

I plan to use my old 19" View Sonic, and connect it to the adapter. Then, use something like this panning software I saw posted up here before to get a dual screen effect.

Will this work?
