I'm looking to buy cables like these.
Before I do so, I want to know if it's possible to use these cables to dual screen with my mac G5 PowerPC. It's running 10.4, but will upgrade to 10.5 in May.

I plan to use my old 19" View Sonic, and connect it to the adapter. Then, use something like this panning software I saw posted up here before to get a dual screen effect.

    Will this work?

Edit: just realized this is for iBook =\
Is there another solution? I'm going to keep googling :3

So I'll take it it's a simple plug-and-play thing, right?

You'll need to get the Mini-VGA to VGA cable for that venerable iMac G5.

Wow, maybe Google was the wrong place to look?
I'm assuming that these prices are localized to my country (Australia), correct?

No, that's the US Apple Store. Search the Australian one for part number M8639G/A.
