Hello!

Looking for a game to push my new six core 3.33 Mac pro - I have 2 acd's 16gb ram - ready to roll. This is my work station but I have to game on it :) Been a long time since I have really gamed though I did play some Dragons Age on my Mac Book Pro...

Any ideas on some Mac games that would really use the capabilities of this machine would be great :)

Thank u!!

Well I am new to mac gaming also but I would say Starcraft at Max Settings and full skirmish or campaign would be a nice option.

Now if your running bootcamp I would say go out and pick up Crysis 2 and go hog wild.

I am sure others have many more ideas than that but thats what comes to mind.

Mike

The cores don't matter as much as the gpu. What gpu do you have? 5770? That's alright.

Crysis is always good. Windows though. For the Mac, I think SC2 would be a good one for your rig as that is more cpu dependent than a fps.

But my $450 pc gaming rig with a 460 gtx will be faster than your Mac Pro in games.

Mac Pro ain't a games machine.

Now sure if you add a faster gpu then you're talking. But Mac Pro is mainly a professional workstation or server.

btw, also matters the resolution you are gaming in. That card is a bottleneck at 1920x1080+ resolutions. But at lower resolutions it won't be and your cpu power will help it be quite fast.

Thanks for the replies!

I am using the 5770 with 2 ACD's and it is a work horse. I used to game all the time on the PC and like you said with heavy graphics cards. This is the work machine but want to play a little :)

Thank you very much for the suggestions. I think I will try Starcraft 2 and Crysis and see how they works out.

Thank You for the help!!!

I am running Shogun 2 Total War on ultra on my 15" high end mbp without any hiccups, so if you have bootcamp and strategy games take your fancy, I stongly recommend it: a brilliant game! :)

You could always stick another cheaper PC 5770 gpu in there specifically for windows gaming and crossfire the PC and apple branded gpu's for some really kick ass gpu power.
